Remington R1 Enhanced

Remington added a couple of new models to to their 1911 line which we were able to handle and shoot during the Media Day.

One was the R1 Stainless…which is the regular R1, but in stainless.

Of more interest might be their Enhanced model which adds many of the features that folks seem to want added to their Plain Jane R1

The Enhanced features a Novak style adjustable rear sight coupled with a green fiber optic front.  They have also added a skeletonized (3 hole) aluminum trigger, Commander style burr hammer, matching beavertail grip safety, extended magazine release and extended right side only thumb safety.  They have added front slide serrations, checkering on the slide stop, MSH and the Speed Bump of the grip safety.

The model I shot also had G-10 scales with an aggressive texture which had been relieved on the left panel for access to the magazine release.

(When Tang says “aggressive,” you should interpret that to mean that the other two shooters thought it was a bit more painful to shoot than it should have been.  The grips were simply too rough, and the grip safety even had some texturing on it as seen above.)
